Jhpiego COVID-19 Training Coordinator in Baltimore, Maryland

Jhpiego has partnered with the Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) to staff and train their COVID-19 Mobile Vaccine workforce. Focusing on vaccine equity, Jhpiego and the BCHD are committed to focused, culturally responsive outreach to ensure access to and acceptance of COVID-19 vaccine by all Baltimoreans through strategic implementation of mobile vaccine clinics. The COVID-19 Mobile Vaccine program engages Baltimore City community members, ambassadors, and leaders to bring culturally responsive COVID-19 vaccine to priority populations through mobile clinics while also working to address vaccine acceptance and uptake among these groups throughout Baltimore.

The Baltimore City COVID-19 Training Coordinator will coordinate training and education for VALUE (Vaccine Access and Acceptance Lives in Unity, Education and Engagement) Communities and Mobile Vaccine team members, including Community Health Workers, for the successful delivery of mobile vaccine clinics that aim to reach specific populations within Baltimore. The VALUE Community Team aims to ensure equitable COVID-19 vaccine distribution across Baltimore, increasing access to and acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine to support the goal of 80% of Baltimoreans vaccinated by February 2022, many of whom will be reached through mobile vaccination clinics. The Training Coordinator will work closely with VALUE Communities Workgroup Leads and the Mobile Vaccine Team, and will coordinate the delivery of trainings to Community Health Workers, clinical and pharmacy partners, senior housing and assisted living facilities, homeless shelters and organizations supporting people who experience homelessness, persons living with disabilities, and other Baltimore City partners supporting COVID-19 vaccine distribution to VALUE Communities populations. Under the supervision of Jhpiego and the Baltimore City Health Department, the Training Coordinator will manage and deliver COVID-19 related trainings and provide resources to the VALUE Community partners and mobile vaccine clinic staff. The Training Coordinator is expected to establish and maintain excellent relationships with counterparts, community members, and other stakeholders in the COVID-19 response in Baltimore City. This position will assist with the implementation of mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinics for VALUE communities, focused initially on older adult and homeless populations and rolling out to other populations as vaccine eligibility criteria expands.

This is a temporary position funded through February 2022. Ability to work onsite/in person with COVID program staff in Baltimore, following relevant safety protocols and procedures (social distancing, mask wearing) is required.

  • Lead coordination and delivery of training for VALUE Community partners and Mobile Vaccine team members, including Community Health Workers, clinical and non-clinical partners, and other key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of strategies to reach these groups with COVID-19 vaccine

  • Support VALUE Communities Workgroup Leads and Mobile Vaccine Team Lead to identify training needs, develop, and implement training

  • Support the development of training platforms to ensure presentation and tracking of training material in a user-friendly format

  • Monitor successful completion and comprehension of training material and provide feedback to Workgroup and Team Leads

  • Provide ongoing mentorship and on-the-job training

  • Ensure the expressed needs of VALUE Communities are integrated into training materials for mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics

  • Ensure trainings comply with best practices, include up-to-date policy guidance, and that they address gaps in program implementation

  • Support routine communication between partners engaged in supporting VALUE Communities with COVID-19 vaccine program activities

  • Support development of COVID-19 vaccine training workplans that includes timeline, responsible party, and indicators

  • Attend meetings as needed to update on training progress and outcomes

  • Contribute to development and timely submission of progress reports

  • Track and manage adherence to training standards and best practices

  • Support development of communications materials and support information sharing across teams, workgroups, and other stakeholders

  • Present at Jhpiego all-staff meetings and BCHD COVID-19 meetings

  • Ensure knowledge management is maintained for all projects and across all workgroups

  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Ability to work onsite/in person with COVID program staff in Baltimore following relevant safety protocols and procedures (social distancing, mask wearing)

  • Advanced clinical degree (nurse, clinical officer or medical doctor)

  • Advanced degree in public health, health administration, education or related field

  • 7 years’ experience providing strategic direction and management of large health projects

  • Experience working in community health or immunization preferred

  • Experience working with persons experiencing homelessness, older adults, Jewish communities, young men, persons with disabilities, pregnant or lactating persons, Latinx, immigrant community and/or pediatric populations preferred

  • Experience developing training materials and delivering training both virtually and in-person

  • Strong understanding of and sensitivity to Baltimore City communities and experience working with diverse populations

  • Highly detail orientated, proactive, comfortable working under pressure and with minimal oversight

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams at one time

  • Highly motivated; good team player

  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks and short deadlines

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; good presentation skills

  • Experience developing communication products (success stories, FB posts, briefs, PowerPoint presentations) preferred

  • Fluency in Office 365, including Word, Excel, PPT, and other organizational tools

  • Proficient Spanish language skills preferred
