We are searching for aProfessional, Footwear Materials Analystto focus on and elevate the UA Innovation materials testing laboratory. The role ultimately supports Under Armour’s development of high performance footwear materials & full shoe systems. The role of the Footwear Materials Lab Analyst is broadly to 1) assure adherence with Under Armour’s material & finished good standards as well as 2) provide R&D testing expertise in guiding the Innovation Team’s technology developments. Specifically, the responsibilties include conducting physical & mechanical testing, the development of new testing methodology, accurate analysis of test results, and ultimately effective communication of results & analysis to a cross-functional development team. Analysts are also responsible for supporting the transfer of Innovation technologies to the Product teams by analyzing test reports sent by suppliers/outside testing labs, conducting limited physical & mechanical testing for correlation/confirmation purposes, analysis of variability in test data, production approvals and general troubleshooting of production issues. In summary, the lab analyst operates in a demanding & hands-on environment that seeks to balance Under Armour’s simultaneous commitment to quality, innovation, cost containment, delivery and social/environmental improvement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Primary responsibility is the supporting/conducting of lab testing of materials and finished goods in support of the Innovation Team’s footwear technology developments.
Conduct all testing in a timely & organized manner.
Input all test data into Under Armour databases allowing for analysis of variability and historical reference.
Effectively communicate test results to Innovation & Product Development teams and/or other key stakeholders.
Assist the Innovation leadership in validating marketing claims, utilizing testing methods if necessary.
Assist Materials Lab Leadership in evolving/maintaining manuals and procedures pertaining to footwear materials and testing.
Actively participate in the development, utilization, and maintenance of lab equipment and material information systems.
Establish an on-going Quality Assurance procedure with all vendors using adequate submit systems and vendor supplied test data.
Stay current in new technologies, processes, industry trends and changes in test methodologies. Re-evaluate appropriateness of test requirements for intended end use of material types as needed.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Able to work independently, but also comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job.
Able to multitask – the job may require an analyst to work on more than one project at a time.

Ability to travel as needed.
Education And / Or Experience
BS in Textiles, Materials or Related Engineering Field (Mechanical, Chemical, etc.)
2+ years of laboratory or related industry experience
High level of expertise with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Basic understanding of Quality Management and Statistical Quality Control concepts and practices, based on work experience or study
Experience with Solidworks (recommended, but not required)
Experience with using MATLAB for data processing (recommended, but not required)
Knowledge of footwear material characteristics, construction techniques and production processes
Knowledge of footwear industry specific testing methodology
Current knowledge of industry testing methods/standards (SATRA, ISO, AATCC, ASTM, etc.)
