PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Directs work, inspects, operates, and maintains gas distribution system facilities, including district regulator stations, main valves, pressure recording devices, gate stations. Transfers odorant and is responsible for odorant injection equipment, station heaters, safety equipment, and condensate recovery and disposal facilities. Leads gas system pressure throttling operations for both planned construction/maintenance work and emergency conditions. Samples system pressures and odorant rates. Performs the more complex operations and maintenance tasks on pressure control and conditioning facilities. Performs administrative duties necessary to meet regulatory compliance. Reads and interprets distribution plates and engineering drawings through electronic mapping systems. Inputs inspection and maintenance information into computerized databases. Issues hot work permits. May be required to coordinate work on site and direct crew. Understands the proper rigging procedures for lifting heavy equipment. Safely handles hazardous materials, and communicates potential hazard material incidents to supervision. Directs the recovery, storage and disposal of pipeline waste products. Directs purging operations, placement of safety equipment, and site preparation for work by other departments. Directs preparation and installation of odorization equipment on customer premises. Qualified leader of the confined space team for GBO&P, works in confined spaces, such as manholes and equipment vaults. Subject to overtime, emergency call–in, and outdoor work in all types of weather. May perform other job duties as assigned.
Demonstrated knowledge of gas, its properties, and associated hazards.
Ability to understand maps and maintain records.
Valid Commercial Driver’s License and ability to meet Company driving standards.
Must pass U.S. Department of Transportation chemical test.
Must qualify for respirator use.
Demonstrated ability to use personal computers and associated software.
Demonstrated ability to communicate tactfully with company personnel and customers.
Four years of related work experience with Gas Distribution facilities including district regulator stations, main valves, pressure recording devices, gate stations and/or Odorant equipment.
