Serve as the technical expert for geophysics for the Baltimore District, other Districts, Divisions, Headquarters, and non-DoD clients.
Manage a geophysical database of all known filters along with any newly developed filters and methods of analysis; and the Geographic Information System (GIS) database.
Execute shallow geophysical surveys as a basis for design and evaluation for the Baltimore District Environmental Munitions Design Center and determines the type of geophysical investigation and equipment to be utilized.
Attend or teach courses, seminars, and conferences on topics relating to geophysics and seismology and provides input to such conferences for the benefit of the Government; and attends meetings.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Geophysics: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.). OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) applying professional principles, practices, techniques, or procedures related to the Hazardous, Toxic, or Radiological Waste (HTRW) programs; (2) reviewing technical environmental reports; and (3) communicating either orally or in writing. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
