Johns Hopkins University Investment Analytics Intern in Baltimore, Maryland
The Johns Hopkins University, one of the world's premier teaching, research and patient care institutions, is seeking candidates for the position of Investment Analytics Intern within its Investment Office, reporting directly to the Managing Director of Markets and Risk. The Investment Office has responsibility for investing the endowments for the university, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and related endowed entities totaling approximately $4.9 billion, its pension plan and Retiree Medical Benefit Trust of approximately $830 million collectively, as well as its operating cash of approximately $1.5 billion. This internship program of up to one year will expose the candidate to institutional money management at a premier endowment, shaping his or her knowledge in all major asset classes globally.

The Investment Analytics Intern will be a member of the Investment Office, taking on important responsibilities that span the endowment and related portfolios. The position reports directly to the Managing Director of Markets and Risk and will play a key role in supporting the overall portfolio allocation strategy and execution and the overall risk management framework and processes. Specific responsibilities include:
Work closely with the Managing Director of Markets and Risk and senior investment leaders to develop and implement quantitative tools and reporting to support the organization in all risk management and investment decision-making
Help shape the data infrastructure of the organization, including the design and implementation of reporting and analytics platforms
Build models and reports that support the organization in making data-driven decisions
Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis
Perform ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner
Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of work experience required
Master’s degree preferred
Coursework in Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, or similar fields is strongly preferred
The successful candidate will have training in data science and finance, and a demonstrated record of achievement at top-tier institutions. Ideally, the candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of data strategy and management in the context of an investment organization. During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
