University of Maryland, Baltimore Laboratory Research Technician (Temporary & Contractual) in Baltimore, Maryland
The Hasan lab in University of Maryland Center for Biomolecular Therapeutics in Rockville MD is seeking a Laboratory Research Technician. This researcher will be involved in production and characterization of membrane proteins involved in viral infections. This position is an excellent opportunity for a college graduate looking for an entry level research opportunity.

Essential Responsibilities
In lab
Perform culture of bacterial, insect, and mammalian cells
Assist in cloning, protein purification and characterization
Perform general housekeeping of the laboratory including dish-washing, autoclaving, preparing solutions and media, and making gels
Perform other duties as assigned
Tele-working
Record research data and participate in lab meetings
Order laboratory supplies
Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in a biological or chemical science.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Prior research experience is preferred especially in cell culture is preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
General knowledge of the principles and practices of natural and/or chemical sciences; of the safe and proper handling and disposal of applicable specimens, materials and equipment. Ability to perform laboratory procedures using applicable equipment and techniques; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to use computers and related software applications; to lift, transport and deliver materials and stock laboratory supplies and goods; to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
OTHER:
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
