DLA Piper, a leader in the practice of law worldwide, seeks a Manager - Marketing for the national Tax practice to collaborate closely with practice leadership to enhance awareness of the group’s capabilities and success. The position requires a self-starter, with critical thinking skills and an understanding of the role a Tax practice plays in a sophisticated global law firm. This individual will partner with other communications, events, business development, administrative and executive team members to achieve business objectives.

The Marketing department works with practice group and sector leaders, partners, marketing leadership, and other senior-level firm stakeholders (US and Global) to develop, implement, and execute against marketing strategy to support the growth and retention of existing client relationships, and to drive awareness and favorability of our practice and sector expertise in the market.

We are seeking a highly talented Manager - Marketing. This position can sit in our New York, Palo Alto or San Francisco office.

Relocation is available in accordance with the firm’s policy.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in marketing communications, business or related field

  • 6 years of sales/marketing/business development experience in a professional services environment

  • Strong writing and presentation skills

  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication and data analysis skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • MBA

  • Experience supporting a tax group

  • Large law firm experience

  • Proficient with MS Word/Excel/Power Point

What will your day look like?

You will be responsible for facilitating the strategic marketing and promotion of the firm through expertise-driven marketing activities designed to nurture and grow firm clients. You will collaborate with team members and other firm colleagues to develop and execute against top-down practice and/or sector strategy in an effort to grow and retain existing client relationships and facilitate new business development. Working with practice group leaders to identify market leading practice areas, priority sectors, and key geographies you will develop compelling content focused on key messages in each of the aforementioned areas with particular attention to data driven proof points and client value to ensure enhanced visibility and awareness of the group’s capabilities and differentiators. You will collaborate with public relations, digital marketing, events, and design to develop proactive marketing campaigns that boost awareness, favorability and engagement.

You will also work with the Director of Practice Group Marketing to help plan practice meetings and retreats and advise practice leaders regarding steps needed to achieve group strategic goals, and analyze research provided by Competitive Intelligence to develop conclusions and recommendations that advance the practice group’s strategic goals. In addition, you will facilitate and contribute to the development of compelling content for proposal/pitch materials and RFPs/RFIs in conjunction with the Pitch and Proposal team.
