PAY : $32.72/hr plus overtime and this person would be eligible to receive up to a 5% bonus based upon plant performance. ​

SCHEDULE/HOURS:

6 DAYS A WEEK

  • 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM

  • 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM

  • Must be available to cover on-call hours, weekends and Holidays

JOB DESCRIPTION:

GAF is searching for an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for the Baltimore plant. The successful candidate must have at least 3 years of maintenance experience, including welding and cutting, pneumatics and mechanical drive components relating to conveyor systems as used in a high speed production line environment. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills in the above areas are also required. Electrical background is a plus.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Welding and cutting as required using oxygen acetylene torches and electric arc welding equipment.

  • Basic understanding of plant electrical systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and mechanical devices.

  • Performs maintenance using hand tools and power tools such as: impact wrenches, power saws, drills, sledge hammers and pry bars.

  • Replacing electric motors, switches and wires as required.

  • Troubleshooting, repair and operation of machine shop equipment.

  • Ability to perform carpentry and plumbing work.

  • Will re-knife cutting cylinders as required.

  • Operation of lift trucks to unload trucks and do maintenance work.

  • Performs preventative maintenance work and documents work done.

  • Troubleshooting of equipment to restore service.

  • Responsible for the housekeeping of tools and work area.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma/GED

  • 3+ years of demonstrated general maintenance experience. Electrical background a plus

  • Able to work independently and with others, as needed

  • Professional and courteous attitude, even under periods of stress due to a part or system under-performing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Capable of the following:

  • Lifting a minimum of 50 pounds

  • Climbing ladders from 10 to 50 feet in height in order to access equipment up to 50 feet high and work off ladders to perform work

  • Standing up and performing work for up to seven hours per day

  • Kneeling, stooping and crawling around machinery to perform work up to seven hours per day

  • Climbing approx. 60 steps up to eight times per day

  • Transporting a ladder a distance of 500 feet

  • Opening doors, climbing over pipes, climbing over ledges and maneuvering around equipment

  • Walking ½ mile up to four times or more per day

  • Communicating verbally with supervisor and other personnel

  • Re-knifing cutting cylinders, which entails bending over, up to 7 hours per day
