The CIS EPIC Credentialed trainers use the curriculum, lessons, and training materials created by the Instructional Designers to conduct Epic training for end users. Credentialed Trainers work collaboratively with other members of the project and training team to assist in developing and maintaining the training program. This individual is credentialed in a selected Epic application and is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Participates in needs assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of educational experiences.

  • Teaches classes about clinical information systems (CIS) to nurses, physicians, and other healthcare providers.

  • Functions as a subject matter expert for development of online courses and printed educational materials.

  • Works collaboratively with the Epic Application Team, CIS Supervisor, and CIS Clinical Educators to assure quality education/training for clinicians in all departments during rollouts/implementations, orientation, upgrade/updates, and refreshers.

  • Administering end user proficiency assessments

  • Communicating training environment issues or curriculum updates to the principle trainers

  • Providing onsite go-live support

  • Reviewing new application enhancements/upgrades and assisting in development of implementation plans Knowledge/Skills

  • In depth knowledge of current CIS at the JHH

  • Adult education principles

  • Development of educational materials

  • Knowledge of current health care environment

  • Strong teaching/presentation skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Highly effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships that foster optimal quality teamwork and education

  • Ability to incorporate clinical concepts as applied to information systems

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook

  • Requires three years of clinical experience as a registered nurse. Preferred teaching experience.

  • Three years’ experience using clinical information systems in a health care environment
