Reporting to the Operational Development Manager, the Operational Development Trainer plays a critical role in the Patient Financial Services Department by designing and developing instructional material for instructor led and online training and development courses for operational systems.
Requires an Associate degree or a Professional certification(s) in Adult Learning or equivalent certification, along with related experience. Professional certification(s) and/or related experience beyond minimum training experience qualifications may substitute for formal education requirement of a two years’ experience for one year education basis.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience in adult education/training in the healthcare industry preferred
Experience in staff, management, and organization development required
End user training experience in EPIC or other clinical/business operations information system preferred
Experience in understanding business and/or clinical workflows related to the assigned application module preferred
Experience in project management preferred
Knowledge of healthcare finance operations, patient accounting principles, healthcare terminology, industry issues, with the understanding of business operations workflows and Maryland regulatory environment
Knowledge and application of adult learning principles
Understanding of technical instructional design techniques and technology for instructor-led and online course development
Knowledge of training principles, curriculum development and preparation of collateral materials necessary to support a 400 + person department
Knowledge in organizational assessment to designing, developing, implementing and evaluating change management programs and organizational problem solving
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, with proficiency in Learning Management Systems as well as patient accounting and registration applications
Possess the ability to coach, influence, facilitate, present, communicate, process development, analyze and problem solve
Ability to interpret Revenue Cycle workflows, processes, and terminology in order to translate information into educationally sound training content
Ability to utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools
Critical thinking and strong analytical skills to support educational implementations and facilitates staff education regarding use of business operations software applications
Required Licensure/ Certification, etc.
Complete and pass credentialing within 3 months of hire date in an assigned EPIC application module at the completion of the Credentialed Trainer program only as assigned. Teaching certification preferred.
A minimum of 1-3 years of prior experience in adult education/training within a service industry. Must be comfortable working with computers and be able to “troubleshoot” on the fly as hardware or software malfunctions occur during training sessions. Exposure to using TQI methodologies to improve and monitor processes is essential. EPIC experience is a plus.
