Johns Hopkins University Research Assistant in Baltimore, Maryland
The Research Assistant will assist with research and educational activities and resources for work performed in the Carnegie Center for Surgical Innovation. Work with members of the lab and assist with the development of image-guided and robot-assisted surgery systems along with assisting with the development of image registration and analysis in surgery. Work with faculty in overseeing laboratory setups and projects involving 3D imaging, robotics, and surgical tracking. Work directly with the Manager of the 3D Printing Facility for CAD design, 3D printing, and post-processing.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist researcher team with preparation of imaging experiments on x-ray CT systems.
Perform x-ray data processing and analysis under the supervision of senior researchers.
Oversee data collection, develop and run routine reports. Use standard mathematical and statistical tools and computer programs to review data, and utilize data cleaning measures to ensure accuracy of data.
Organize and maintain large collections of imaging data.
Adhere to protocol requirements to ensure validity of clinical research data. Maintain a good working knowledge of all assigned experimental protocols and data analysis techniques.
Maintain paper and computerized research files.
Participate in weekly research group meetings. Meet regularly with designated laboratory staff to review recent data, troubleshoot current experiments, review new experimental protocols, and prioritize new experiments.
Prepare mandatory reports and documents/protocols.
Conduct literature searches and participate in drafting scientific communications (papers and conference presentations).
Refer to and comply with procedure manuals, follow proper laboratory protocols and safety policy/procedures, and be familiar with material data safety sheets in assigned work areas. Adhere to all Health Safety and Environment (HSE) guidelines applicable to assigned work area.
Execute corrective maintenance and repair services on laboratory devices and systems.
Coordinate shipping and receiving of laboratory.
Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (mandatory):
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
Some related experience in a research laboratory that applies techniques of anatomical, functional, and/or structural imaging analysis or acquisition.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
