Position Summary

Under Armour is looking for a Sr Lead, Business Planner. This position reports directly to the Sr. Director, Global Marketing Operations. The ideal candidate will assist in the strategic and operational planning of administrative, financial, and operational activities for the brand’s global Marketing team. This is a highly strategic and facilitative role that requires a combination of focus and flexibility, as well as willingness to play an active, behind- the-scenes role. This role requires a highly resourceful individual with strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and strong analytical skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Planning– lead the Global Marketing organization through UA’s annual long-range planning process. Responsibilities include:

  • Long-Range Planning Process: Partners w/Marketing Leadership and Corporate Strategy to develop and drive Marketing-specific processes which map into UA’s corporate long-range planning process.

  • Global Plan Development: Drives global plan development w/Marketing Leadership and key stakeholders:

  • Facilitates respective ideation + prep sessions

  • Brings thought-leadership, diverse perspective + context (ie key considerations, interdependencies, etc) to on-going discussion and decision-points.

  • Owns strategy alignment sessions between Marketing Leadership + other cross-organizational Leadership Teams (ie Product, Merch, Channels, etc).

  • Drives build out of Marketing’s long-term initiative roadmap + resources required to execute.

  • Coordinates share-out sessions to ensure broader Marketing teams are aware of and delivering against the LRP.

  • Regional Playbook Development: Develops regional playbook w/Marketing Leadership and key stakeholders to direct regional teams in their long-range planning – includes strategic focus, investment prioritization and target benchmarks.

  • Strategy to Execution Process: Assist Marketing’s GTM and Finance teams in translating the LRP into the upcoming year’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Goals + Project Pipeline.

Special Projects – lead the Global Marketing organization through development and implementation of Marketing Leadership projects and initiatives. Responsibilities include:

  • Project Alignment: Partners w/Marketing Leadership to identify and prioritize new projects in context of larger Marketing team’s pre-existing workload, available resources and timing requirements.

  • Project Management: Drives special projects + key initiatives in partnership w/Marketing Leadership team; includes project-specific process, alignment and communication from agency on-boarding to deliverable hand-off and implementation.

  • Reporting and Accountability Reviews: Owns reporting on progress against special projects, initiatives and goals; includes an overview of status, upcoming actions required + potential opportunities / risks. Elevates issues w/recommended resolutions to ensure the team is aware and risks are mitigated.

Executive Operations – partner directly w/the CMO to fulfill commitments to internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include:

  • Executive Communications: Drive the development of CMO and Marketing Leadership presentations and communications to key stakeholders internally and externally.

  • Marketing Team Meetings: Design, plan and facilitate key CMO-led meetings - includes Marketing Leadership Off-Sites, Global Marketing Town Halls, CMO Staff Meetings, etc.

  • Enterprise Thinking: Be the voice of the CMO w/in relevant meetings to ensure long-term vision, team priorities and breadth of projects w/in the CMO’s purview are kept top-of-mind. Elevate potential issues and recommended resolution to CMO on a regular basis.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Highly-developed communications skills (written/verbal) and interpersonal savvy

  • Results/action-orientation; project management skills

  • Organizational agility; developed negotiation skills

  • Ability to juggle multiple goals and deadlines in the context of the big picture

  • Able to successfully navigate within varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced + pressure-filled environment

  • Willingness to work hard and take direction—but also creatively solve problems for which the answers aren’t always obvious

  • Ability to build a strong network and relationships at executive levels

  • Resilience and resourcefulness

Education And / Or Experience

  • 6-8 years of professional experience; MBA Preferred

  • Experience leading strategy, operations and process improvement projects at a leading management consulting firm or in a relevant strategy/operations team.

  • Distinctive problem solving and analytical skills, demonstrated experience solving complex and diverse business problems (commercial, operational, organizational), and to drive projects from strategy to execution.

  • Leadership and influencing skills experience leading/influencing stakeholders at all levels of an organization.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with leadership in developing and executing successful plans
