The Senior Manager, Operational Sustainability reports directly to the Corporate Director, Sustainability. The position will be expected to maintain daily contact with various Production, Process, Maintenance, Warehouse, Sanitation, Environmental Compliance, Safety, and Quality Managers. This position is responsible for ensuring sustainable development principles are incorporated and maintained within each facility’s culture, while ensuring other relevant areas outside of operations are considered as projects and objectives are developed. The position will also be responsible for all internal communications with stakeholders, and to ensure that all our employees are aware of our goals and growth. Finally, the manager will lead interactions and communications with community interest groups, contractors, and consultants.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the maintenance and continued implementation of each facility's Sustainability Roadmap.
Coordinate with site managers and corporate resources to develop and maintain site-specific training and signage as part of a continuous effort to raise the visibility of ASRs commitment to sustainable development.
Tracking and validation of all sustainability data to ensure accurate reporting.
Analyzing the collected data and identifying opportunities for improvements.
Identifying the need for capital investments, and the creation of project scopes.
Interact with operations regularly to ensure related training and competency requirements are performed and properly recorded.
Assist with the publishing of each facility’s annual Sustainability Report.
Coordinate with sales, marketing, and customer service teams as needed to report approved site-specific sustainability data.
Participate in corporate efforts to identify and reduce post-consumer end of life impacts caused by material production and disposal.
Support site level management system reporting within the ECOVADIS customer survey system with corrective action tracking and completion of findings.
Creation of site-specific Operational Sustainability and CAPEX budgets.
Coordinate with site public relations for community social engagement and local donations.
Assist as needed with any third-party sustainability audits (SMETA, Proterra, Bonsucro, Etc.) that the facility is subject to.
Be proactive and committed to continuous improvement efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum of 7 years of experience supporting sustainable development efforts, with a particular focus on Operational Sustainability (preferably in a manufacturing setting).
Experience with sustainable reporting and metrics associated with GRI, ISO, Product Life-cycle Analysis, Greenhouse Gas Reporting Protocols, etc...
Experience with third-party validation and auditing relative to sustainable development activities (Proterra, Bonsucro).
Experience with web-based customer surveys and reporting platforms such as CDP, TSC, ECOVADIS, etc.
Experience with a management system-based risk analysis and target/objective setting.
Experience with multi-site sustainability-based project management.
BS in Environmental and Social Sustainability (ESS), Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field from an accredited university is required.

Knowledge of ISO-based Management Systems, with experience in materiality assessment execution and auditing.
Experience with operational and facility improvements to meet energy, water, and waste objectives.

Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to represent business interests to 3rd parties.
Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis Experience, preferably with Lean 6 Sigma belt training.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products (PPT, Excel, Word)
