Marriott International, Inc., a leading lodging company with more than 6,000 properties in 122 countries and territories, is looking for a Systems Engineer to join its IT Delivery team. The Systems Engineer serves as a Subject Matter Expert in a complex array of solutions. This position provides support to sourced partners on projects with up to moderate complexity. An ideal candidate will exhibit strong communications skills, be self-motivated, adaptable and dependable. This individual will play a critical role in supporting workgroups and/or functions as a technical resource. They will contribute in resolving complex issues and providing input for decisions on more complex, non-routine service requests with limited to moderate risk. This role may also be called upon can make contributions into research, analysis, design, creation and implementation of systems to meet current and future user requirements. This individual will collaborate on multiple projects to ensure for successful completion.


Education and Experience


  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer sciencediscipline and/or equivalent experience/certification

  • 5+ years’ experience in information technology

  • 2+ years’ experience developing technicalsolutions for end user and workplace services leveraging cloud and virtualtechnologies.

  • 2+ years’ developing automated technologycapabilities in support of desktop and mobile computing platforms

  • 2+ years’ working with enterprise class cloudservices and DaaS providers such as Office365, AWS, Workspaces, VMwareHorizon, and Azure

  • 2+ years’ maintaining VMWare Horizon platform

  • 3+ years’ working with Windows configurationand patching

  • 2+ years’ working with powershell scripting andpowerCLI or other scripting language


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide rangeof audiences including executives, business stakeholders and IT teams

  • Demonstrated ability toperform independently as a member of a team and through cross functionalinitiatives

  • 2+ years’ process mapping and automation

  • 2+ years PDQ deploy packaging

  • 2+ years with Agile and Design Thinking

  • Strongattention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiplepriorities

  • Strong passionfor technology and the drive to learn new technology

  • Strong understanding of the softwaredevelopment life cycle (SDLC)

  • Experience in SQL Server reporting

  • Demonstrated ability to assess customer/clientneeds, creatively approach solutions, decide and influence appropriatecourses of action

  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize andexecute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Experience in requirements analysis/generationand developing systems architectures

  • Experience as a system engineer in programs thatencompass systems architecture, requirements analysis, design, production,integration, test and transition into operations

  • Proficiency in Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint


  • Provides support, oversight, governance and tacticaldirection related to the cloud services that are required to enable thedelivery of IT services

  • Design quality and always available domain servicessuch as Active Directory, LDAP, and other associated e-Directories

  • Design reliable services for electronic messagingand collaboration services inclusive of email, chat, desktop video,conferencing, file share services and SharePoint services

  • Develop/Design cloud-based services in the form ofIaaS, SaaS, or PaaS to help consumerize the end point device experience

  • Develop standards,qualifications and methods for the integration of the workplacearchitecture with new applications and internet browsers

  • Supports analysis ofthe current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommendssolutions for improvement

  • Utilizes capabilitymodeling to align systems strategy and planning with business strategy andgoals

  • Consults with projectteams to identify when it is necessary to modify services to accommodateproject needs

  • Supports, implementsand promotes standard configuration and change management, processes andpractices

  • Develop test plans, implementation plans, andproject timelines for assigned projects

Delivering Technology

  • Leadstechnical design activities and prepares technical specifications tor small andlarge projects.

  • Supportsexisting systems and projects in a minimum of one environment.

  • Reviewscompleteness of requirements prior to Service Provider solutioning

  • Participateswith the Service Provider in planning and coordinating implementation,reviewing quality control of systems functional design, usability,functionality, and implementation.

  • Providesinput to support desk change management efforts as it relates to support andtraining of new system

  • Coordinateswith appropriate IT and vendor relations teams

  • Ensuresearly warning to the leadership regarding degraded or missed service levels


  • Followsall defined IR standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, SM&G,Architecture, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate processowners as needed

  • Maintainsa proper balance between business and operational risk

  • Followsthe defined project management standards and processes

ServiceProvider Management

  • Validatesthat Service Providers develop and manage respective aspects of a project plan,including schedules, deliverables, and appropriate metrics.

  • Providesinput to plans to effectively utilize resources

  • MonitorsService Provider outcomes

  • Providesestimates of work effort for client project provided by Service Providers foraccuracy

  • Facilitatestimely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact toclients
