Latitude, Inc. Windows Systems Engineer in Bethesda, Maryland

This hands-on technical role will ensure the development, stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house technologies supporting the firm s core organizational functions. The selected candidate will focus on the analysis and design of current and new systems as well as maintenance and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze architecture, relationship between systems, and systems flow of end-to-end designs relative to system analysis and design; support usage assessments and interface design tasks

  • Provide design and documentation for analysis, integration and testing operations

  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain VMware clusters following VMware, SAN, and Server best practices

  • Leverage VMware DRS, HA

  • Configure, troubleshoot and maintain Microsoft Active Directory. Define and setup user accounts and security; create and maintain network volume and directory structure within Active Directory

  • Administer Group Policy changes and review GPO settings routinely to ensure compliance with college acceptable use and security practices

  • Powershell

  • Operate Windows Server, VMware ESXi, systems on a variety of hardware platforms

  • Improve and maintain detailed backup and recovery strategies for multiple platforms

  • Communicate with users in problem assessment and troubleshooting

  • Apply appropriate technical skills or vendor methodologies to resolve issues successful

  • Interface daily with other IT and professional staff members in an integrated team environment

  • Provide technical support, training and technical documentation to staff members as needed

  • Contribute in remote system monitoring, maintenance as well as Tier 2 On-Call support

  • Perform and complete system security management (Active Directory Certificate Services, SSL, IPSec/VPN, Direct Access)

  • Investigate and test new versions, patches, and fixes for servers to mitigate risk prior to production implementation

  • Maintain hardware, firmware and software patches to ensure a stable compute platform and assist in testing activities and be able to perform data queries

  • Apply system design methodologies including conceptual, functional, and physical designs

  • Provide application support and enhancements to existing applications. Defines system requirements, priorities, and viable alternatives.

  • Apply broader knowledge and high-level technical skills.

  • Perform complex duties on a regular and continuous basis.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems/ IT or related field

  • 3+ years experience supporting, integrating, and deploying hardware / software solutions

  • Proficiency with application design, systems analysis and/or programming required with project management responsibilities

  • Experienced in working with Virtualization technologies: VMware

  • Proficient knowledge of Windows Server, VMware ESX, systems on a variety of hardware platforms

  • Experienced with Active Directory
