Overview
Aggregate Industries, a leading provider of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has an immediate opening for a Lead Fixed Plant Mechanic to support our Kirby Road Sand & Gravel plant in Clinton, Maryland. The Lead Fixed Plant Mechanic is primarily responsible for diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of fixed mechanical equipment, systems and machinery such as valves, motors and pumps, crushers, conveyor belts, pulleys, screens and screen bearings. Additionally, as the Lead mechanic this position will provide work direction to less senior mechanics, and coordinate the ordering/purchasing of parts from approved vendors.
Responsibilities
Diagnose mechanical problems and perform repair and maintenance to stationary production machinery, including, but not limited to, batch plants, motors, conveyors, elevators and drives.
Inspects and reports the condition of machinery for items needing repair or service.
Rebuild or fabricate parts; repair electrical equipment.
Read and interpret technical manuals.
Coordinates ordering/purchasing of parts from approved vendors, and occasionally delivering parts.
Operates fixed and mobile equipment, as necessary.
Performs other duties as directed by the Supervisor.
Complies with all environmental, health and safety and human resources policies, procedures and requirements.
Provides direction to less senior mechanics
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a mechanic in the construction/mining/building materials/manufacturing industry.
Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems
Welding skills highly desired
Strong interpersonal and coaching skills
Ability to work overtime hours.
