Responsible for developing and maintaining communications to all stakeholders to ensure that relevant program details are disseminated by leveraging the most appropriate tools and technologies. Responsibilities also include familiarizing with the end-to-end business process flow to be able to carry out effective communications. Responsible for collaborating with all stakeholders to understand the communications requirements and ensure that they are carried out correctly within the specified time frame, and accurately reported to the management and/or client.

A professional at this position level within Optum has the following responsibilities: Adapts existing methods and procedures to create possible alternative solutions to moderately complex problems. Understands the strategic direction set by senior management as it relates to team goals. Uses considerable judgment to determine solution and seeks guidance on complex problems. Primary upward interaction is with direct supervisor. May interact with peers and/or management levels at a client and/or within Optum. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments with guidance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain content on an educational website for US Healthcare Providers to best communicate overall program details, FAQ’s and provide key links for Health Care Providers across the US

  • Coordinate with the management, client and stakeholder teams to develop and deliver education to groups or individuals through the most appropriate media channel such as website materials, teleconferences, webinars, online video courses, social media, etc.

  • Collaborate with all teams to promote internal communication and development of provider education needs such as inclusion of new procedure codes, preventing common billing errors, etc.

  • Coordinate external communications with Federal stakeholders and professional associations as directed by the client. This includes targeted email messages, promotional toolkits, fact sheets, and videos/graphics, etc.

  • Define social media outreach plans with accompanying graphic images and messages to address eligible provider concerns in coordination with the client and management

  • Ensure that all Provider communications follow Federal plain language guidelines

  • Work with all stakeholders to secure necessary information and to modify communication for compliance with product standards

  • Analyze the effectiveness of the communications efforts in an objective manner and suggest product and/or process improvements and efficiencies

  • Participate in team meetings to report progress on internal and external communications

  • Recommend improvements to communications policies and procedures to achieve better quality and/or efficiency while adhering to regulatory requirements

  • Manage and motivate staff and create a collaborative space where they can ask questions and voice their concerns

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Arts, Communications, Health sciences or equivalent

  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing, drafting

  • Experience in assessing and interpreting customer needs and requirements

  • Experience in delivering innovative ideas through presentations using text, graphics and video

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the Health and Human Services (HHS)

  • Experience in coordinating teleconferences involving large audience

  • Experience working in CMMI Level 3 (or higher) environments

  • Legal or Journalism background

  • Creative, confident and proactive self-starter, skilled in taking initiative, assessing requirements, coming up with plans, and taking the lead in making plans reality

  • Demonstrate a high degree of adaptability, comfortable in establishing new directions, managing rapid change, and trying different approaches to deal with uncharted territories

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive, productive relationships with colleagues, managers, external stakeholders and client

  • Comfortable and experienced operating in an outcome-oriented environment

  • Driven to be creative and comfortable in working with others

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, be a team player, and be well organized and efficient with excellent judgment and decision-making skills

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600.
