Element Materials Technology Operational Excellence (OE) Manager in Columbia, Maryland
Overview
Element has an opportunity for Operational Excellence Manager to join our growing team. you are responsible for creating and executing the lean transformation plan. You are part of the global OE team and will work with the local management teams (site leadership) and higher management (Directors and Vice Presidents) to execute the lean transformation and thus improve the performance of the site. You are charged with the task to increase operational performance and profitability. Besides project management and business tools, you will use Lean and operational tools like: 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, set-up time reduction, short interval management and change management. Experience or knowledge about QRM (Quick Response Manufacturing) is a positive.
Responsibilities
Responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Lean transformation program
Will work closely with General Managers, Operations Managers, Directors and Vice Presidents as well as OE Managers and other change agents in the business
Making a plan with locations’ management for the Lean transformation
The preparation, execution and aftercare of improvement activities
The measurement of progress and targeting of results from improvement activities
Training, Coaching and development of OE Managers, change agents and management to ensure the maximum positive impact of the project on the Element stakeholders
Proactive and effective communication related to improvement initiatives
Mobilize commitment for change and enable the continuous sustainment of change initiatives
Skills / Qualifications
Must be experienced in managing complex and sensitive issues
Broad experience in Lean and transformation processes (experience with QRM is a plus)
Must be proficient in standard office software and computer systems (MS Windows, Word, Power Point)
Must be advanced Excel user
Competent use of statistics related to Business Improvement metrics (experience with PowerBI is a plus)
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively deal with internal customers; foster open upward and downward communication within the organization built on mutual respect
Well developed and effective verbal and written communication skills used in working with peers and employees at all levels of the organization
Project management skills to manage the process of providing excellent customer service, exceptional quality of service and turnaround, and continuous improvement ;
Broad knowledge of operations, engineering, and financial management;
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or related field
Minimum 10 years in business of which at least 4 years spent in operational excellence, lean six sigma, or management role
Experience in telecommunications engineering industry considered a plus
