We are seeking a Maintenance Technician 1 to join the Facilities Team of our Safety Assessment, NHP Quarantine Services sitelocated Frederick, Maryland.
The Facilities Team is responsible for performing repairs and general maintenance tasks to support the operation of the site and administrative offices, or on machines and equipment use in the business's operation. Typically this involves work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Uses hand and power tools. Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment. May use blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
Perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks to assist in the daily repair, preventative maintenance and construction of existing physical building(s) and expansion projects, including basic carpentry, masonry, electrical, heating/air-conditioning, plumbing, painting, mechanical and floor/wall coating installation to support the business operation.
Perform scheduled inspections/repairs on all facilities systems at the site.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance repairs and services.
Provide 24-hour on-call maintenance coverage, as scheduled in rotation. Respond to emergencies as needed.
Take proper safety precautions and utilize appropriate safety gear/equipment in the performance of all duties.
May occasionally assist in moving office contents within site, including furniture, files, etc. as needed.
Experience: One to two years’ experience in general building maintenance with mechanical and construction background.
Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.)
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Other: Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Must be able to follow verbal directions. Demonstrated ability to perform independently and as team member. Basic computer skills required.
