We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individuals to join our Summer Internship Program! The Quality Control Department at Frederick Maryland Site, is seeking a highly motivated individual as a Summer Intern to help the QC department support laboratory operations. In this role, you will work with the QC team to support the Facility and Utilities Monitoring and Testing. This role will be a hands-on resource.
Through this project, you will gain an understanding of Kite’s Microbiology processes in Quality Control operations. You will learn about collection and testing of Environmental Monitoring (EM) and Water samples, the contamination controls for classified manufacturing areas such as aseptic gowning, growth promotion testing of media, identification of microorganisms, T-Cells finished product testing for Sterility and Endotoxin, among others.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Support the manufacturing facility startup by assisting in the implementation of Aseptic Gowning Qualification, Utility Performance Qualification, and Environmental Monitoring Performance Qualification programs
Execute testing associated with facility startup activities for water systems, compressed air, and manufacturing environments including bioburden in water, surfaces, viable air, non-viable air, moisture and oil.
Isolate and transfer microbial isolates for microbial identification
Evaluate sampling and reporting of results
Assist with the analysis of qualification data to support the final report and develop baseline alert limits
Assist with the development of the transition strategy and implementation of routine monitoring programs
Must be at least 18 years or older
Must be currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s Degree program at an accredited university/college
Must have completed at least one year of study at an accredited university/college prior to internship commencing
Must be enrolled in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between June and September
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without Kite sponsorship
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Degree concentration(s) in Biology or related field of study
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
Ability to take direction, communicate effectively, and work as an individual contributor as well as within a team environment
Efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment
Experience in life science laboratories (academically or commercially)
Experience with statistical analysis software (Tableau, JMP, Spotfire, etc)
