RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs advanced level, scheduled and unscheduled troubleshooting/services on specialty equipment, instruments, and systems specific to the pharmaceutical research & development industry. Possesses the in-depth technical knowledge required for performing complex, analytical service procedures, instrument qualifications, and calibration tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for acting in accordance with appropriate client and CBRE company policies and procedures. Complete all required training.

Need to have the experience in a Pharmaceutical environment working within a GmP or GxP environment with 4+ years of experience with a good understanding working with equipment such as: Chromatography, Centrifuges, Cell Analyzers, HPLC, Liquid Handling, Automation, Optical Systems, Biology and Chemistry Analyzers etc.

Targeting specific experience with Perkin Elmer Envisions plate readers, Applied Biosystems 7500 and 7900HT PCR machines.

Disassembles, inspects, cleans, repairs, calibrates, tests, and performs periodic maintenance of specialty equipment, systems and controls.

Operates electronic test equipment, including multimeters, frequency generators and counters, galvanometers, digital logic probes, and oscilloscopes.

Performs complex repairs or coordinates the removal of instruments/devices needing overhaul during scheduled maintenance.

Troubleshoots/services or resolves problems while performing unscheduled work, as necessary.

Records and reports abnormal functions or out-of-tolerance conditions of equipment and initiates corrective action and documentation.

Locates part sources, estimates costs, and prepares requisition

Reinstalls, tests, evaluates, calibrates, and maintains instruments or devices upon completion of repairs.

Documents daily records of inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, and other work performed within approved guidelines and procedures.

Coordinates with outside contractors regarding repairs covered by maintenance agreements.

Performs work in accordance with approved equipment, calibration, maintenance and safety procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May lead project teams and/or plan and supervise assignments of lower level employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of four years of related experience and/or training. Associates degree preferred in scientific field of study preferred or equivalent related work experience.

Seven years of experience in instrumentation and control or installing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing equipment or equivalent experience is preferred. Requires specialist knowledge, training and experience related to analytical instrumentation to include selected technique groups such as HPLC, GC, Liquid Handling, Automation, Optical Systems, Biology and Chemistry Analyzers.

Previous experience in pharmaceutical research and development industry including the making of chemical standards using appropriate techniques for weighing, pipetting, mixing, diluting, and verifying concentrations.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

Must have appropriate license or certification where required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers and to effectively present information. Anticipates others’ needs for information and ensures that the format of information meets the needs of the recipient.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Ability to work well with other employees, lab personnel, 3 rd Party Service Providers and CBRE’s and the client’s management.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Experience with Desktop publishing, Microsoft Office Suite, and Online Help. Demonstrated use and understanding of physical standards of mass, temperature, flow and pressure. May require an understanding of FDA regulations, GMPs, and GLPs (specific to pharmaceutical industry) and use of scientific notation. Knowledge and understanding of regulations, good manufacturing practices, and use of scientific notation. Ability to read and work from blueprints, schematic diagrams and specification manuals.

Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.

Ability to work independently or in teams. Conscientious, self-starter requiring limited direction to achieve desired outcomes.
