Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for (2) full-time Mechanical Insulation Specialists. The Mechanical Insulation Specialist will apply insulating materials to pipes or ductwork, or other mechanical systems in order to help control and maintain temperature. This position must read work orders, blueprints and customer orders to complete jobs. This position will also perform other construction-oriented tasks as assigned in support Beitzel Corporation’s Field Services. This individual will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of pipe insulation as well as industrial construction and must be proficient with the products and services offered by Beitzel Corporation and must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed.
Typical areas of operations include, but are not limited to: MD, PA, OH, WV, VA, and NJ.
Use a wide variety of tools, from hammers and wrenches to torches, forklifts and more
Lift heavy objects and/or be able to secure and move large objects with the use of equipment
Will physically manipulate objects with tools
Apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures
Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement or asphalt mastic
Determine the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape, and equipment use
Possess the ability to layout sheet metal and aluminum
Fit insulation around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required
Install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage
Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors
Read blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements
Select appropriate insulation such as fiberglass, mineral roll, etc. based on the heat retaining or excluding characteristics of the material
Aid other field personnel as needed
Be willing to work on the off hitch and demonstrate commitment to the job
High school diploma or GED equivalent
A minimum of (2-3) years of pipe insulation experience or equivalent/relevant education and experience preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of Industrial Pipefitting Services is preferred
Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately
Practical knowledge of office procedures and customer relations
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Skill in dealing with the public in a manner which will facilitate any constructive problem solving possible
Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations and ability to meet deadlines

The employee will frequent lift, handle and maneuver parts and tools and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds unassisted
Must be safety and customer-focused, without exception
Required safety equipment: Steel toe and/or metatarsal shoes, protective eye wear, hard hat, hearing protection, protective goggles, masks, face shields, gloves, etc.

Must possess a valid state driver’s license prior to employment
