Jr. Mechanical Engineer

The KBR Space Division MIST Contract is looking for a Jr. Mechanical Engineer with a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles to support design development of Opto-Mechanical systems at Goddard Space Flight Center. The candidate must be a self-motivated team player with good communication skills and a strong eagerness to learn and contribute. The job will require a wide range of engineering support duties including support of concept and detailed design efforts and fabrication drawings, working with procurement office and vendors to get hardware fabricated, tracking and overseeing hardware fabrication and procurement to ensure timely delivery , working with vendors, machinists, technicians and other project entities to resolve issues during part fabrication and assembly, and writing assembly and test procedures.

Must be U.S. Citizen

Required Skills:

  • Conceptual mechanical design

  • CAD design, Creo preferred

  • Microsoft Office suite

  • Hands on experience fabricating metal parts preferred

  • Hands on experience assembling mechanical systems preferred

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Self-motivated

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Good organizational skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Education: B.S. Mechanical Engineering or related field
