Peraton Corporation Software Engineer (Java/C++/Linux) - Space/Groundstation Systems in Greenbelt, Maryland
Overview
Peraton is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to support our Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, and Wallops Island, VA facility .
As prime contractor on the Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment and systems engineering of NASA’s worldwide satellite communication networks. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic, team-based development environment for the NASA’s Near Earth Network (NEN).
Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer you will be supporting one of several projects within the Monitor & Control or Direct To Earth Scheduling functions. This position will involve the design, integration, and test of new satellite ground station software and performing modifications to existing ground station software. The selected candidate will ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements into a total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Responsibilities may include:
Systems requirements development and allocation
Managing software specifications
Developing code in accordance with applicable requirements documentation
Developing and executing test plans for software system verification and acceptance, and Developing associated documentation
Analyzing software systems, codes, and software modules to resolve issues with software functionality and/or performance
Supporting the integration of, and transition to new hardware and software systems, and generating related documentation.
Approximately 10% travel is required.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or a related technical field
Minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience in the analysis, design and development of software systems, including hands-on work in system test and integration
Prior experience in one or more of the following concentration areas: JAVA, C/C++, ORACLE, LINUX
Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 or later versions
This position requires a US citizen, to be able to obtain a Security Clearance and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC)
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with Ground Data Systems is a plus
Knowledge of fundamental security and network concepts (intrusion detection, TCP/IP, SSL, ports, switching, routing, etc.)
Experience with scripting and automation experience
Experience in CentOS and/or RHEL
Prior experience in Information Security and/or IT infrastructure
A Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) certification is a plus
