Overview

PURPOSE

To achieve maximum optimization on a daily basis by effectively coordinating the daily operation of the production department ensuring all environmental, safety, quality, budget and production targets are being met.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and maintain the plant safety program through day-to-day safety contacts with employees and department safety meetings, ensure assigned work areas are safe and safety requirements are observed.

  • Review operational control policies and procedures, update to current standard and communicate with effected departments and employees.

  • Monitor all process operations to maximize production rates while meeting quality targets.

  • Maintain environmental compliance at all times, taking action as necessary to operate within facility permitted limits.

  • Supervise 3rd party service including refractory removal and installation, mechanical or electrical maintenance as needed.

  • Manage process materials in accordance with work instruction including but not limited to raw materials, fuels, semi and finished products, and any waste stream.

  • Identify, isolate and report any deviation from internal product specification.

  • Manage equipment failure and process upset conditions to minimize cost and downtime.

  • Ensure kiln and mill operation is in compliance with government and company safety standards

  • Ensure the regular inspection and evaluation of all operating equipment to maintain production requirements

  • Assist the Production Manager in preparation of department operation budget, monthly accruals, and capital projects

  • Participate in planning, organizing and execution of refractory repairs and turnarounds with the Maintenance Planner.

  • Provide relief coverage for other Production Supervisors on rotating shift as needed.

  • Participate in planning, organizing and executing the plant housekeeping plan.

  • Maintain and administer weekly work schedules and vacation schedules

  • Assist the Production Manager in the development and implementation of training plans for production personnel.

  • Responsible for Production planning including 24 month plan for logistics; weekly and monthly confirmation checks and conversion of planned orders to process orders.

  • Responsible for process orders management including but not limited to: weekly release of process orders, daily confirmation of process orders, clearing of goods movement errors occurring after confirmation, complete process orders monthly

  • Responsible to balance physical inventories of cement, clinker, raw meal weekly and all other materials associated with production on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

  • Ensure production vs. consumption ratios are correct for all functional areas, raw material extraction, raw material preparation, raw meal preparation and cement clinker factors are correct each month.

  • Ensure the accurate reporting of downtime notifications, and coach and improve downtime tracking process.

  • Assist with production budget development (Mid Term Plan) cost and volumes

  • Participate as key member in weekly production/maintenance planning meeting

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

  • The Production Supervisor reports to the Production Manager who reports to the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required Education: High School diploma/GED

Additional Education Preferred:Bachelor's/University Degree

Work Experience: 3-5 years
