Aerotek Drafter in Hunt Valley, Maryland
Our client supports electrical and gas distribution based projects that they receive from their largest client, Baltimore Gas and Electric. The newest body of work coming from BGE is their outdoor lighting support work which spawns from the ODL team at BGE. They have just hired a Sr. Designer from us to eventually take on team lead responsibilities over that project and now they are asking us to start staffing the drafting support needed for the group.
These 2 entry level drafters will be placed in the ODL space to learn and train but will likely be exposed to other types of projects as well during their time with our client.
"New Business" team (Setting up residential/commercial customers with new gas or electric service. This does require someone comfortable talking to customers)
"Commercial and Industrial Projects Team": Experience with large projects or C&I BGE experience specifically would be big plus
"Outdoor Lighting Team" A newer body of work for our client, they are looking to build a team around this body of work. Low voltage electrical projects are a good equivalent.
Candidates can expect to being working behind a computer 75-80% of the time. Remaining 20-25% will be spent on field visits, team collaboration, internal meetings, etc.
Taking direction from team leads/ Sr. Designers. Completing design packages from start to to finish with high levels of accuracy and timeliness. Matching standards and processes to turn in designs acceptable to the QA teams at the client (BGE.)

Top Skills Details:
1) Comfortable navigating an AutoCAD OR MicroStation drafting software. (They will need to learn MicroStation but it can be trained).
2) Willingness to be a team player and great communicator.
3) Ability to work independently when needed. Also, willing to ask questions for things they don't know.
Ability to work as part of a team and catch on the design process quickly.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
AutoCAD/ MicroStation Exposure: Have a basic understanding of design software so they can pick up the specific training provided.
Communication Skills/Willingness to talk to customers on the phone. (Arranging times and locations for site visits, asking additional questions around what types of services they may require).
