The Grounds Maintenance Worker performs routine grounds maintenance tasks forWSSCWater facilities.
Cuts grass, trims hedges and shrubs, picks up litter, rakes, replaces sod, sweeps, sprays, and shovels
Shovels snow and participates in snow removal operations
Operates one or more types of construction equipment in maintenance operations, such as dump/stake-body trucks, crew cabs, mobile air compressors, sand blasters, chain saws, and snow removal machines
Operates mowers and other landscape related small engine equipment
Operates and maintains hand tools and power-operated equipment in building and grounds maintenance work
Cleans, lubricates, and maintains hand tools and power operated equipment
Performs general grounds maintenance work to preserve Commission properties which involves landscaping terrain, picking up litter, sweeping, shoveling, raking, weeding, seeding and replacing soil and sod
Performs a variety of manual labor tasks such as constructing rip rap adjacent to erosion areas, custodial duties and cleaning drains and tanks
Performs basic work assignments on computer systems such asTEAMS
Performs preventive maintenance on roof/gutters
Performs other related duties as assigned
Work Environment And Physical Demands
Responsibilities are generally performed in outdoor environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of materials, methods, and practices used in routine building and grounds maintenance
Knowledge of the applicable occupational hazards and safety precautions
Skill in operation of hand tools and light powered equipment
Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor under adverse weather and environmental conditions
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
Possession of a valid driver’s license with no more than 4 points and the ability to obtain and maintain aWSSCdriver’s permit and aDOTmedical card
Employees in this position are designated or considered emergency personnel; therefore, the employee must report to work as scheduled or as directed by their supervisor whenWSSCWater declares an event that requires emergency personnel to report to work
Overtime may be required during weather emergencies or summer season to meet the needs of the Commission
1+ year experience operating a variety of powered equipment used in facility maintenance work
1+ year of experience operating plant-related machinery and equipment
Salary$14.40-$24.76 plus shift differential
