Title: YARD OPERATIONS MANAGER
Reports To: Fleet & Facilities Manager
Status: Regular, Full Time, Non-Exempt
Primary Function: To Support the Support Services Division managing critical functions of the Equipment Service Center, Dispatch, Sourcing, and Building & Yard.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the Fleet & Facilities Manager in the management of the ESC by overseeing subordinate staff, creating work assignments, managing preventive maintenance compliance, assisting in the creation of work orders and purchase orders as appropriate and within approval limits.
Assist in the management of all ESC parts and supplies, specifically; ordering, management of on hand quantities, returns and cores.
In accordance with Driver Handbook, operate company vehicles in a safe and skilled manner. Pre and post-trip inspections are performed daily. Vehicles are maintained and kept clean and organized.
Practice a “safety comes first” attitude by following Company, D.O.T. and OSHA regulations.
Crosstrain in Fleet Dispatch, assigning equipment, drivers, and contract truck to specific jobs, completing the daily line up, and managing internal truck drivers.
Materials Management and Sourcing
Oversee all centralized sourcing activities for the company utilizing sourcing staff, including rentals, materials, and supplies.
Oversee the operation of the loading dock utilizing appropriate staff.
Develop Materials Management Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to document processes and expectations.
Develop and Implement a small tools inventory and management process.
Oversee job specific material buy out process to ensure all saving opportunities are leveraged.
Oversee all Building and Yard Activities.
Manage daily operation and organization of Hyattsville Yard.
Develop Shoring and Small Tools Management procedures and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to document processes and expectations.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3-year experience dispatching trucks and drivers in a construction environment.
Minimum 2 years’ experience purchasing materials for a construction company.
Must possess practical skills and proficient knowledge to provide oversight of the Fleet and Sourcing activities.
Must be comfortable using all standard Microsoft Office applications, and have the ability to quickly learn and utilize work management software.
Must exhibit a clear understanding of the necessity of safety.
Must be able to work independently and deal with changing priorities.
Must be able to communicate with supervisor and coworkers, both in writing and verbally.
Must be qualified and capable to train and certify employees in the use and application of Standard Operating Procedures
Must be a team player.
