Apollo Video Technology Field Service Technician - DC Metro Area in Landover, Maryland

As a Field Service Technician, you?ll be working with advanced mobile video surveillance equipment on mass transit vehicles. We need an individual to join our team that can apply their experience troubleshooting to the preventative maintenance of our video surveillance systems. It will require a solid knowledge of electrical theory on low voltage systems, experience working with schematics and wiring diagrams and the ability and desire to self-manage their assigned work.

This is a regular, full-time position working a night shift at our client?s locations outside of Washington DC. Reliable transportation is required.

Any offer of employment will be contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check and drug screen. Regularly updated background checks and drug screens are required to perform work on our client?s sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts routine preventative maintenance of video surveillance equipment on client?s bus or rail fleet

  • Checks work orders and related manuals and schematic diagrams to determine tasks to be performed and tools, equipment and parts needed for installation or repair assignment

  • Tests electrical components and replaces faulty components using hand tools

  • Responsible for compliance of service contracts in respect to response times and service levels

  • Communicate, document and report faults and product failure trends

  • On occasion works with customer?s representative to inspect installations and repairs to verify that work has been performed according to specifications

  • Prepare accurate reports that document progress on assigned work orders and sign-off sheets

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • A combination of one to three years of directly related training and/or experience installing and troubleshooting CCTVs, cable installation and/or security systems

  • Knowledge of basic electrical theory ? low voltage systems, i.e. security systems

  • Basic networking experience strongly preferred

  • Professional license or related training helpful

  • A+ certification strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand schematics and wiring diagrams

  • Expertise with electrical systems, use of volt meter and other tools

  • Experience testing and recording voltages

  • Experience using small tools or hand tools

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills ? electrical systems, software and hardware

  • Valid driver?s license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance

  • Have and maintain a good driving record

  • Demonstrated success self-managing work without direct supervision

  • Proficient with computer applications, including experience working within Excel spreadsheets and other programs that may be used in documenting work performed

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while following directions and procedures

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Physically required to frequently sit, stand, talk, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, overhead lift and use hands to finger, handle or feel and to reach

  • The employee may lift up to 50 pounds on occasion

  • Varied field environment performing service work on transit fleet vehicles including in inclement weather

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job are close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
