Northrop Grumman Cryogenic Test Engineer / Principal Cryogenic Test Engineer in Linthicum, Maryland
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Advanced Capabilities division is leading the development of the next generation of high-performance computing. Superconducting electronics forms the core of our technology, with a focus on energy-efficient computation using our patented superconducting digital logic technology, Recipropcal Quantum Logic (RQL). On a gate-for-gate basis, RQL consumes orders of magnitude less power than CMOS while running at significantly higher clock speeds. The Advanced Capabilities division seeks experienced test engineers to develop these technologies into high-performance computing systems. You'll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make these technologies a reality. Responsibilities: Lead and support test development activities for superconducting electronics development Develop automated procedures for superconducting logic device characterization Support the development of test platforms within cost and schedule constraints Document test requirements and procedures Review test plans for accuracy and completeness Support training of junior technical staff (Principal only) This position can be filled at a Cryogenic Test Engineer OR a Principal Cryogenic Test Engineer. Qualification for both levels are listed below:
Basic Qualifications for Cryogenic Test Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a technical area (BSEE or other Engineering discipline preferred) with 2 years of relevant experience with cryogenic microwave test. Strong problem solving and analytical skills Ability to communicate effectively to team members both verbally and in writing Proficiency in at least one of MATLAB, Python, C, or C++ Experience troubleshooting electronic test systems US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance Basic Qualifications for Principal Cryogenic Test Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a technical area (BSEE or other Engineering discipline preferred) with 5 years of relevant experience with cryogenic microwave test (3 years with technical MS) Strong problem solving and analytical skills Ability to communicate effectively to team members both verbally and in writing Proficiency in at least one of MATLAB, Python, C, or C++ Experience leading teams or projects Experience troubleshooting electronic test systems US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance Preferred Qualifications: Experience with superconducting electronics test platforms Experience with cryogenic test environments Experience with test automation and data analysis in MATLAB Experience with microwave electronics Experience with digital logic test automation Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements Active TS security clearanceNorthrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
