Lockheed Martin Sr. Airframe Assembly in NAS Pax River, Maryland
Plan and independently perform complicated assembly operations and/or guide others in the performance of a variety of routine operations to assemble airframe structures for all production model and derivative helicopters.
Follow general instructions, standard practices, recognized methods, complicated assembly drawings and other written or oral instructions to plan, prepare, and perform a variety of difficult and new operations requiring the application of various acquired aircraft assembly skills to build up structures for all model helicopters where basic design and configuration is established.
Rework, fit and align details and subassemblies, install related units, and attach skins.
Make small parts or tools if required to expedite assembly.
File, drill, ream countersink, bolt, and rivet and occasionally fabricate or rework details, check alignment, and perform any other operation necessary to fit, align, and fasten details, parts, and subassemblies to form complete structures.
Layout work, set up new methods, incorporates all modifications and changes, and trouble-shoot as applicable.
Caulk and tape to insure specified degree of watertight integrity of structure and perform other duties consistent with assembly operations as required.
Direct, assist, and instruct one or two helpers as required by nature and scope of assignment.
Refer only very unusual situations or problems to working leader or supervisor.
Interface with support groups, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineers, Platform Team, Purchasing to initiate / suggest alternative work around to resolve fit-out and assembly short comings.
As required segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
Requires ability to use shop mathematics, work from complicated drawings an engineering specifications, and use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, scale, etc.
Also requires thorough knowledge of aircraft assembly, fitting, and aligning methods and practices.
Equivalent to 2 years high school plus 2 to 3 years trades training
