Avian PMA-271 Model-Based System Engineer in Patuxent River, Maryland

AVIAN is seeking a Model-Based System Engineer to join our growing team of Systems Engineering (SE) and modeling experts. This job would be in support of the Navy?s Airborne Strategic Command, Control and Communications Program Office (PMA-271), in support of the E-6B Mercury aircraft specifically the E-XX Recap Acquisition effort.

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) utilizes systems models to replace the document-centric nature of typical Systems Engineering.

If you excel at digital modeling and are interested in putting your expertise to work for the Navy?s Airborne Strategic Command, Control and Communications Program Office (PMA-271), in support of the E-6B Mercury, this new position is for you.

Our ideal candidate can:

  • Lead technical planning and execution of system modeling and simulation utilizing model-based engineering tools and practices to support enterprise systems engineering activities.

  • Develop descriptive system models integrating COTS, GOTS and open source analysis tools to support trade studies and analysis of alternatives as well as the evaluation of system requirements and the tracking of system technical performance measures.

  • Trace related analytic models and results to enterprise tools supporting requirements definition, CONOPS development, architecture design, risk analysis, scheduling, change requests and verification, validation, and test.

Qualifications for Junior or Mid-level:

  • Bachelor?s Degree in science, engineering, math, computer science, or other technical discipline

  • Broad Systems Engineering experience with Model-Based Engineering applications and technology

  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge and experience with UML, SysML, and related OMG Specifications for behavior modeling and simulation

  • Object-Oriented Design and Analysis experience either in system model development or software programming

Must be a U.S. citizen with active TS clearance and capable of receiving TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications for Mid or Senior-level:

  • Master?s degree (or equivalent) in science, engineering, math, computer science or a related field

  • Knowledge of engineering analysis and analytical simulation tools such as MATLAB, Systems Toolkit (STK), Mathematica, Modelica, SciPy or SciKit-Learn

  • Experience with the development of executable systems models (OMG-Certified Systems Modeling Professional certification or demonstrated commensurate level of knowledge)

  • Basic/Intermediate Java, Javascript, or Python programming experience (experience with API development and use is of particular interest)

  • Familiarity with MagicDraw and Cameo Simulation Toolkit

  • Familiarity with Multidisciplinary analysis and optimization tools like Phoenix ModelCenter, Altair Hyperstudy, etc.

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment

  • Familiarity with DoD and/or IC
