Avian Unix Systems Administrator in Patuxent River, Maryland

AVIAN is looking for a Unix Systems Administrator to join our team to support NAWCAD 7.2.4.

Our ideal candidate will apply their knowledge of engineering principles to research, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test or evaluate systems. As an Engineering Technician, you will review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals and other technical documentation. This position allows you to put your engineering experience to use performing functions such as system integration, design, configuration management, quality assurance testing or acquisition and resource management.

Job Description:

· Gathering requirements, developing and conducting design reviews, along with "as approved" implementations within the mainstream corporate infrastructure.

· Keeping servers "compliant" per NAVAIR and DISA policies to include backup and disaster recovery requirements, anti-virus protection, and implementing system security.

· Knowledge of backup plans and rotation cycles.

· Maintaining the information on the Knowledge Base site.

· Assisting with producing documentation that details and describes the systems, procedures, events, and any associated processes.

· Building new infrastructure servers.

· Maintaining, tuning, and patching systems for optimum performance and security.

· Migrating or upgrading systems, where applicable.

· Participating in monthly routine maintenance tasks. Responding to system failures promptly to bring applications back online.

· Able to troubleshoot mid to high level issues with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

· Knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting methods. DoD 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2).

· At least 3+ years experience with RedHat or Solaris system administration

· Knowledge of RedHat Satellite and/or RedHat Ansible preferred.

Security Clearance and CompTIASec+ Required upon start date.
