General Purpose of Job
This role will provide timely and accurate more complex investment and derivatives data and investment accounting for the General Account Invested Assets on a Statutory, GAAP, Management and Tax basis. S/he will be responsible to perform more complex securities research, analysis, and proper accounting treatment of Lincoln Financial Groups (LFG) investment positions to support strategic investment operations and initiatives. S/he also enhances departmental capability by sharing knowledge with team members.
Duties and Responsibilities
Champions and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Collaborates effectively with applicable key stakeholders across the enterprise to facilitate the accurate & timely completion of the investment accounting process for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Communicates identified more complex risks & financial implications to management.
Consults/Analyze on more complex assignments and/or projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Ensures completion of responsibilities in an accurate & timely manner.
Identifies and recommends process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Maintains investment accounting's internal control system to ensure SOX compliance. Recommends enhancements.
Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
Prepares & communicates concise & focused technical financial documents, presentations & communications (memos, fact sheets, collateral materials) which direct the reader to salient points for a wide range of technical & non-technical audiences.
Prepares earning memos & analysis on key metrics for the general account team.
Prepares financial foot note information for SEC, GAAP & statutory reporting.
Provides education on fixed income & derivative investments for existing and developing investment strategies for compliance with accounting/reporting regulations to appropriate key stakeholders & investment accounting team members.
Provides more complex investment accounting treatment of General Account Invested Assets under applicable Statutory, GAAP, Management & Tax basis.
Provides technical research on new & existing general account investments & derivatives.
Resolves more complex discrepancies & take actions on matters & inquires on General Account Invested Assets from portfolio management & multiple asset managers.
Reviews the communications of junior team members.
Serves as a resource to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on more complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Serves as project manager for assigned investment accounting projects. Reviews technical work of junior team members.
Supports & enhances departmental organizational capability by sharing technical knowledge with team members.
Supports an effective function for his/her assigned area(s) by identifying more complex risks; researching technical investment accounting issues; & gathering all necessary information.
Supports the preparation of industry & governmental surveys for area(s) of responsibility.
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) - Minimum Required
5+ Years of experience in investment accounting, securities or financial reporting that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
Technical knowledge in investment acounting
Prior experience working in investment acocunting or accounting systems is needed
