Sodexo Senior Manager, Area Support (Engineering) in Rockville, Maryland

Unit Description

Sodexo seeks a Sr. Area Support Manager with experience managing Engineering Services in a pharmaceutical/manufacturing environment . This manager will have the technical proficiency of Engineering Center of Excellent; in addition to experience with growing the business and building a strong technical team. You will be the subject matter expert (SME) for Sodexo reporting to the Vice President Operations. Travel up to 40-50% covering multiple locations.

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for all client engineering services management activities, which include maintaining interface with Corporate Real Estate personnel, ensuring total contract compliance with all criteria and reaching all performance specifications, including quantitative cost savings and qualitative customer service specifications.

  • To provide strategic technical and energy leadership to the NorAm region in order to deliver significant business growth and profitability

  • Define a robust and achievable strategy which will successfully improve the regions performance in technical services and energy management

  • To implement and maintain business improvement and process improvement into all areas of technical services and energy management across the account

  • Become a service line of excellence to internal and external clients

  • Work with the Service Operations, Segment operational & functional teams to ensure a standardized, consistent and compliant approach is implemented across the region (Technical, Energy, OE)

  • Accountable for the day to day performance of the assigned team and delivery of services within stated service levels, processes, procedures to support and deliver services to achieve performance goals and objectives

  • Ensuring that all requirements of the Technical Services Center of Excellence are implemented, embedded and delivered across the NorAm portfolio of properties

  • Ensure that all technical services are being delivered in a safe, compliant, diligent and cost-effective manner.

  • Development of policy, strategy and procedures for technical and energy management delivery

  • Represent Corporate Real Estate at the regional level, developing and fostering regional client relationships as appropriate

  • Accountable for the accuracy and timely updates to all client and Sodexo systems support tools, (ie. Maximo).

  • Develop strong relationships with our clients and customers across the contact.

  • Support process owners and platform leaders with the implementation of training, educations and expectations to ensure teams adhere to all processes and procedures.

  • Provides regional input to annual financial plans and manages capital within approved plans/budgets while summarizing and sponsoring forecasted or unforeseen expenditures throughout the year.

  • Define a robust and achievable strategy which will successfully improve the regions performance in technical services and energy management

  • Provide input and justification to multi-year capital infrastructure plan for assigned geography

  • Provide oversite and direction of development and approval of critical infrastructure project, planning guidelines, commissioning, and close-out. Work with key stakeholders to ensure compliance as related to proper closeout and commissioning requirements are being followed including the collections and archiving of all necessary critical documents. Ensure that key stakeholders are properly maintaining archives of CAD drawings, schematics, equipment operations manuals, warranty documents and other critical information

  • Ensure all properties are operated, maintained and tested in accordance with local, state and national requirements over-layed by those required and expected of client (ie, critical processes, SOPs, and reporting requirements).

  • Pioneer the use of best-practice account management throughout the region to ensure achievement against all contractual business plans

  • Develop a competent in country operational team to deliver consistent service delivery by ensuring effective leadership of all business activity

  • Engage with strategic clients on a routine basis and lead by example in providing excellence in contract/relationship management

  • Available 24/7/365 in support of the client’s critical environment.

  • Liaison with EMEA Technical Leadership and harmonization of Good Engineering Practices

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years operational experience with responsibility for leading teams in a service environment, including 5+ years’ experience in commercial real estate services

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical/GxP environment

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing people and clients. Strong oral and written communication, negotiation and analytical skills

  • Strong strategic thinker and planner.

  • Ability to develop and create alternative ways to proceed way forward

  • Strong analytical ability to think about all the factors that might affect a situation, recommend and execute solutions

  • Strong organizational skills, complements abilities, i.e. how resources can be arranged for maximum productivity

  • Strong judgement, problem-solving and crisis management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills

Position Summary

This position serves as a subject matter expert for the Division relating to plant operations maintenance (POM) services. This position is typically aligned with an Senior Vice President or Vice President and supports that geography.

Key Duties

  • Day to day SME for plant operations maintenance (POM) services.

  • Ensures compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of standards and other regulatory requirements, as well as with Sodexo's templates and standards for customer service.

  • Works with operations constituents in areas relating to financial management, people management, account development, and account operations.

  • Supports the implementation of new unit openings, including the development and administration of training plans.

  • Supports the sales process by assisting with operations and costing analyses, and by providing technical support in the development of service proposals.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 5 years

Basic Functional Experience - 5 years of experience in related field
