BAE Systems IFF SCA Engineering Technician III (Combat Systems) in Saint Inigoes, Maryland
The selected candidate will work on board United States Navy ships in performing the following work:
Assist with pre installation checkouts (PICO) in support of upcoming ship alterations.
Perform shipboard installations as member of an alteration installation team (AIT) following TS9090.310 procedures for installing and testing.
Participate in acceptance tests and other higher level combat systems test events both at land based test sites and at sea.
Participate in platform certifications to include Conus and Oconus sites.
Provide technical services in support of the AN/UPX-29(V) Interrogator System during grooms, Combat System Ship Qualification Trials (CSSQT), and Material Condition Assessments (MCA).
The candidate must be willing to travel 20% - 30% of the time to assist with shipboard/shore-based system installations and test events. Will be required to work on-board ships to accomplish assignments. Will exert frequent energy, such as climbing to go aloft for antenna maintenance and lifting/carrying heavy objects. May be required to work overtime hours or weekends to support installations and test events. Will occasionally be required to work in disagreeable environmental conditions. Assigned work will include assisting other technicians and working on projects involving Combat Identification equipment including Mark XII and Mark XIIA systems. Will work closely with BAE Systems personnel, subcontractors, and onsite Government customers.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in St. Mary's County on the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Saint Inigoes annex. Candidate will travel to ship locations and complete assigned tasks: this may require extended hours or weekends to support installations or test events. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High school diploma and at least 3 years of experience related to United States Navy combat systems
Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
Ability to climb aloft for antenna maintenance and lift/carry heavy objects
Ability and willingness to travel 20% - 30% of the time to assist with shipboard/shore-based system installations and test events
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
NEC 1571(V06B) or equivalent AN/UPX-29(V)
NEC 1572(V07B) or equivalent AIMS system Technician
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) - Maritime Training (OSHA 1915)
Certified solder technician specializing in SMT, lead free and through hole
Certified Quality Assurance Inspector
Certified cable fabricator
Active security clearance
