ManTech is currently seeking a Vehicular Power Systems Engineer, whose primary responsibilities will include providing support to the configuration and testing of vehicular power, HVAC, and mechanical elements and operations in support of transportable communications systems from multiple vendors.
The Vehicular Power Systems Engineer functions as the lead support for power, HVAC, and mechanical systems. The candidate should be considered an industry expert in the field. They are responsible for planning, approving, and coordinating power, HVAC, and mechanical system installations. The duties of this position will include ensuring operational connectivity, electromagnetic compatibility, personnel safety, and support to integrated communications networks built into various vehicles . They will develop and provide support to preventative maintenance and sustainability reviews as well as have the ability to interpret and make changes to blueprints, operational concepts, and requirements in dynamically changing environments. Practical, hands-on, real-world results are required.
The Vehicular Power Systems Engineer independently develops and applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems. They can interface and coordinate with internal groups as well as a variety of contractors across multiple projects.

The Vehicular Power Systems Engineer must be skilled in system engineering, system troubleshooting, corrective and preventative maintenance, and Quality Assurance control.
The Vehicular Power Systems Engineer should demonstrate experience in the design, sizing and troubleshooting of AC and DC power systems and sub-systems within a mobile platform.
Desired Background and Skills:
Familiarity with National Electrical Code, medium- and low-voltage requirements and compliance especially in regards to communications systems, self-generated power, and vehicular systems.
Understanding of UL and other similar listed, recognized, and compliant components and methods as well as their correct selection and application.
Familiarity with facility and tactical vehicular systems design for power and signal / power grounding, shielding, filtering and stability in accordance with Military Handbooks 419a, 454 and Mil Standards 188, 1399, 704 and 1275.
Familiarity with Industry Guidelines such as the American Boat and Yacht Council Wiring Standards, General Motors Coach Builders Guide, Ford Vehicular Aftermarket Wiring Guide and the Motorola R56 Communications Systems Building Guide.
Familiarity with OSHA and other Government Safety Guidelines and Training Requirements in regards to Safety Grounding, Bonding, and Arc Flash for Personnel Protection.
Familiarity with all types of rechargeable batteries, charging systems, low-voltage disconnects and the best methods for maximizing battery life in both stand-alone and UPS equipment.
Familiarity with AC and DC Power System Stability Optimization under dynamic, surge conditions which may be generated by switch mode power supplies and rapid connect / disconnect of high current loads when equipment is operated over high impedance conductors from rotating generator equipment or over long umbilical cords connected to shore power.
Familiarity with conductor sizing, fuse and circuit breaker selection, wire insulation selection, and wiring methods for tactical vehicles operated off-road under vibration and harsh conditions.
Familiarity with best mechanical construction practices for long system life, to resist environmental degradation, and to maximize human-friendly design for easy operation and repair.
Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred, computer science, or a related field and 4+ years of specific applicable experience. Eight (8) years of equivalent experience is considered acceptable as long as it is specific to this need.
Active DoD Secret Clearance is preferred; suitability to obtain is required.

Familiarity with hands-on test equipment measurement techniques and results interpretation.
Ability to travel approximately 10%.
