Aerotek Mechanical Systems Engineer/ Biomechanical Engineer in Sparks Glencoe, Maryland
This position will help support the BD Max System which was originally designed in 2011. This product gives labs and hospitals the ability to perform integrated and fully automated extraction and thermocycling steps. Tests for STDS, respiratory illness, women's health and cancer, and other diseases. This product has been know to have issues and they are building a team of engineers to come in and trouble shoot/redesign. Responsibilities: - Identify and correct failure mechanisms, potentially re-spec functionality of liquid detector - Provides input into the development and assembly level product requirements. Translates requirements into design specifications. - Interacts with software, systems, and electrical engineering functions to develop comprehensive solutions to design problems. Help identify root cause issues (production, manufacturing, or field issues). • Utilizes Design for Six Sigma and other structured processes to ensure robust product performance and predictable project execution • Executes the design of mechanical components, assemblies and subsystems of medical diagnostic instrumentation - Prepares and participates in design reviews. Thoroughly assesses the ability of proposed designs to meet specified requirements, including manufacturability. • Prepares documentation, utilizes internal systems, and works closely with Operations to insure timely and efficient design transfer to production. • Conforms to the requirements of ISO and cGMP standards for the design and development of medical devices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or associated Engineering field required - 4 + years of experience related to Machine Design, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, Manufacturing Techniques, and Engineering Change Orders ideally within Medical Device (other highly regulated industries will work) - Must have systems level knowledge/experience – planning, systems level design, product feasibility/validation, technical management engagement with other department stakeholders - Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment -Strong technical judgment and problem solving skills
