Danaher Corporation Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist in Timonium, Maryland

Position Overview

The Senior EHS Specialist will support the Timonium plant's Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) strategy. This person works under the direction and supervision of the EHS Manager. This individual will also function in a team environment to sustain EHS compliance, help identify and control potential EHS issues, and to mitigate EHS risks associated with current site operations to address any gaps in compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead technical aspects of EHS projects to help maintain compliance with relevant state, federal, and local regulatory requirements and Danaher/Pall corporate EHS policies

  • Maintain required records/documentation and assist in the development of technical documents including EHS procedures, programs, training and policy guidance

  • Lead site-specific EHS training

  • Conduct industrial hygiene (IH) assessments and sampling, manage IH data and help implement controls

  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)

  • Participate in site safety committee meetings to help drive safety engagement across all facilities

  • Take part in site emergency preparedness, planning, and response activities

  • Respond to emergency situations during or after hours to resolve immediate safety/environmental concerns

  • Conduct root-cause investigations for site incidents including injuries, fires, and spills

  • Coordinate environmental monitoring and record keeping for facility stormwater discharges, air emissions, and other environmental-related permits

  • Perform routine industrial and hazardous waste management activities

  • Support ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) & ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) activities and program requirements

  • Assist the Human Resources department and EHS Manager with worker’s compensation case management

  • Other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, or equivalent

  • Master’s degree in a related field, preferred

  • ASP, CSP, or OHST credential, preferred

  • 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing setting required

  • Knowledge of federal, state, local or regulations equivalent to MOSHA, OSHA, EPCRA, RCRA, DOT, CAA, CWA, etc. or capable of learning requirements

  • Project and program management experience related to contractor safety and construction management

  • Proficient PC skills including experience working with Microsoft Office applications

  • Familiarity with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 22301, preferred
