Position Overview:

Within the Global Tools & Storage division of Stanley Black & Decker we are currently looking for a Strategic Insights Manager to join our End User Insights organization. The Strategic Insights, Manager, Global Tools and Storage will drive business results by influencing business strategy, brand and product portfolio decisions, integrated marketing planning, and new product development through a constant focus on the end user, shopper, and marketplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess new business opportunities at the category, brand, retailer and country level.

  • Provide business partners with an on-going assessment of market and industry trends, competitive activity, and retail understanding.

  • Mine cultural and socioeconomic trends for opportunity areas.

  • Combine primary and secondary data sources to identify unmet consumer needs.

  • Seek to understand the consumer and shopper experience across touchpoints, with a particular focus on the Point of Sale environment.

  • Create and implement strategic learning plans to address critical business questions.

  • Guide specific research development and execution using expertise in a wide variety of research methods.

  • Regularly create and take part in activities with consumers and shoppers to understand drivers of consideration, purchase, and loyalty.

  • Identify digital tools to execute quick and cost-efficient research.

  • Measure and evaluate initiative success. Socialize key learnings with business teams to continually drive improvement.

  • Help build the Strategic Insight Group’s core capabilities.

  • Continually identify gaps in business knowledge and research methods and propose solutions for how to address.

  • Identify and test innovative tools and techniques for more efficient and effective research.

  • Partner with the Analytics, Data Science and Business Transformation teams to bring new analytics capabilities to the company.

  • Vet agency and vendor partner capabilities for regional and global scale.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, MBA a plus

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Consumer Insights and/or a combination of Brand Development, Marketing Strategy, Marketing, Product/Project Management, or

  • Expertise in a variety of qualitative and quantitative consumer research techniques and analytics

  • Experience in analyzing and drawing conclusions from Point of Sale data, browsing and buying behavior, and consumer perceptions

  • Excellent communication skills
